Memorial Candles/Memory Candles
Weddings are a wonderful, happy occasion! So often, however, those close to us who have passed on before the wedding day are so sadly missed at the celebration. While we can remember them in our thoughts and prayers, a more tangible way to honor the memory of those special loved ones has become more and more popular.
These days, brides and grooms are choosing to remember deceased loved ones by employing the use of personalized memorial candles. Useable in a number of ways, including during the unity candle ceremony, memorial candles create the feeling of closeness to parents, grandparents, or treasured friends who have passed on and cannot be present at the ceremony.
Memorial candles look much like unity candles and other candles used during wedding ceremonies. Usually white and column-shaped, the candles will feature the name or names (many candles accommodate up to 3 or more names) of the deceased and can sometimes include additional information as well, such as the relationship to the bride and groom.
A simple sentiment, such as "In loving memory of ___, who is present in our hearts," is generally part of the personalized inscription as well. Many couples choose to feature more than one memorial candle in their ceremony, purchasing a separate candle for each family member or friend that will be remembered during the service. Some brides and grooms choose to mention the candles during their ceremony while others prefer to keep the memory of those loved ones to themselves, close to their hearts.
Stands are usually available for the candles, and many companies that offer these personalized memorial candles also offer custom-inscribed bud vases, which can be used in a similar manner.
